I started Home CCTV Direct after my wife’s car was ransacked and pot plants stolen outside our home in early 2007.

I was so annoyed.

OK, in the grand scheme of things, a pot plant and a car ransacked is no big deal, but it's the principle of the matter. I thought: "What gives you the right to violate my property? I worked hard to pay for that - what did you do?"

Then I decided I was either going to either get even or make sure it would never happen again - I wanted a Home CCTV System.

But I knew I wasn’t going to get any change out of £1000 to have CCTV installed at my home (Everest even quoted £7000 for a simple two camera system). I also didn’t know how to install the equipment myself. I was very fortunate in that my brother-in-law installs professional, commercial standard and police compliant CCTV equipment for many of the better known FTSE 250 companies in the UK and he introduced me to one of the UK's largest (and most helpful!) wholesale importers of CCTV Equipment.

I realised that there are plenty of people offering CCTV, but very few who are willing to help people buy and install the right equipment themselves so I started Home CCTV Direct.

Since then I've been helping people install commercial standard CCTV Systems at a fraction of the cost quoted by most other companies. My customers have often been the victim of crime or anti social behaviour and have already contacted the Police. Unfortunately, there's little the Police can do unless you have strong evidence or a reliable witness. The Police often recommend CCTV both as a deterrent and an effective way to gather evidence and identify criminals.

I know how daunting it can be to start from scratch when you know nothing about CCTV so I’ve come up with a support system that will guide you through the process every step of the way from BEFORE your initial purchase through the life time of your Home CCTV System. Since installing CCTV at my home we haven’t had a single incident (touch wood!) and I’ve been able to help lots of other people set up their own equipment and sleep better at night knowing that they have something watching over their property 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
